You must keep following your group because not all of the people are good and maybe you or one of your group can get a bad day or situation.

you must take care of yourself when you go out, because people sometimes is dangerous.
if you take a tour, you must follow your tour guide because you could get lost and this can be horrible experience.

You should always arrive with your group and come with the just and necessary things for the outing as the map, because someone could lose things or gets lost.

my best advice for a tourist, is to camouflage,and look like a tipical Chilean guy.
they should wear regular clothe.
they souldn't to take too many bags to go sightseeing.
they shouldn't have many valuable objetcts.
they must not move away from the group.

If you go sightseeing, you must be with your group and/or follow your tourguide because you could get lost and be in a serious trouble and try not to take a big backpack because it attracts thieves.
When you take a taxi they always charge you more than you have to pay so try to bring with yourself a little bit more money in this case.
